The Institue for Ice Age Studies (IIAS), is the web's premier Anthropology site specializing in the study of the Ice Age. Its purpose is to support and further research and education concerning human evolution and prehistory during the late Pleistocene. The IIAS is especially concerned with the acquisition and dissemination of our scientific knowledge of biocultural evolution from the first appearance of anatomically modern humans some 200,000 years ago up to the end of the last Ice Age about 10,000 years ago.
The IIAS's research and education priorities include Paleolithic symbolic systems, technology, paleoecology and land-use, and group organization.
