Teeth as Tools

Neandertals used their teeth as tools, producing an odd wearing down of their incisors, but not in the way seen among modern Eskimos, who use their teeth to soften hides by chewing and for a variety of other tasks. The precise activity that produced this wear remains to be explained, but implies to some anthropologists that Neandertals solved fewer problems with technology than do their descendants.
