The scholars will, hopefully, shed light on this hidden transcript for appropriate documentation and dissemination with an objective to incorporate in project planning, at least at micro levels. Against this backdrop.
It is a great initiative taken by Department of Anthropology, University of Chittagong, to organize this particular forum where a galaxy of senior and junior anthropologists is expected to share and exchange views on various anthropological issues and concern. The initiative obviously deserves due appreciation.
The expected scholarly deliberations will surely benefit the academics as well as those involved in development activities where anthropological issues, so far, remained unattended or partly attended. The senior anthropologists of the country have been playing a significant role in disseminating their ideas, based on practical research works, while the juniors are coming forward with strong motivation to make the discipline more applied. The issues for discussion that include a theoretical foundation and eventual crystallization are indeed imperative and the event has taken it seriously.
Applied dimensions of anthropology, in the context of Bangladesh, is another particular focus and has been considered as a platform for discussing from a first hand experience perspective. The country with more than 30 small and large ethnic minority groups has also been given due attention, as their mainstreaming without changing cultural identity is a crucial concern felt by the academics and development practitioners. The country, though small in size, is very reach in terms of ecological diversity. And each ecological zone has its own and unique treasure of tacit knowledge. A session on Indigenous Knowledge is, therefore, well justified.
The scholars will, hopefully, shed light on this hidden transcript for appropriate documentation and dissemination with an objective to incorporate in project planning, at least at micro levels. Against this backdrop, and proudly take this opportunity to express a sincere wish for all success and believe that this gathering of the reputed scholars will a stand together to demonstrate the genuine fact which explains the role of senior scholars as builders of roads and highways while the juniors are vested with the responsibilities to build towns and cities in a huge academic territory of anthropology.
