Proximity to Water
Proximity to reliable sources of water was one of the most important criteria in choosing a place to live. More than 90 percent of all camps were located near springs or on the banks of rivers and streams. Seen here is the Magdalenian site of La Truffière, France, situated adjacent to a natural spring.
