How successfully did Upper Paleolithic people meet their nutritional needs? Recent research by Mary Ursula Brennan of New York University, using x-ray and other methods, indicates that during certain periods people were faring better than during others. This is a human incisor tooth showing hypoplasias (growth anomalies in the enamel) indicative of periods of malnutrition. It is from the Aurignacian site of Les Rois, France.
