Textiles

Radical new evidence for the manufacture and use of textiles has been discovered recently by archaeologists Olga Soffer and James Adovasio at the 26,000 year-old site of Pavlov in the Czech Republic. As in the case of the rope fragment from Lascaux discussed elsewhere, the evidence of textiles at Pavlov, aseen here, comes from their imprints in lumps of earth accidentally burned in a fireplace. This early existence of textiles raises the possibility that animal skins were not the only material used in the manufacture of clothing.
